The wonderful discovery of the witchcrafts of Margaret and Phillip Flower. 1619 Hanging Books are title page reproductions of antique books that are handmade from old books which are re-purposed to be hung on a wall for a unique display. The books display the title pages from one or antiquarian books based upon a certain theme.In 1618 Margaret Flower and her sister Phillipa (called "Phillip" in the pamphlet) were executed for witchcraft in Lincoln, England. They confessed that having been servants of the Earl of Rutland and being dismissed they plotted their revenge, Margaret Flower stole a glove belonging to Henry Lord Rosse, Rutland’s heir, and gave it to her mother Joan Flower, who stroked her cat called Rutterkin with it, dipped it in boiling water, pricked it, and buried it. Later Lord Rosse fell ill and died. They further confessed that the devil came to them and they agreed to give their souls to have spirits like dogs, cats, and rats at their control, during her trial Joan Flower asked for bread and butter and died after eating it, her daughters Margaret and Phillipa were executed after their trials.
