Alchemy Candles
During the Renaissance, the ancient art of alchemy was restored to Europe, for some Renaissance alchemists the heart of alchemy was spiritual; the transmutation of lead into gold (the Philosopher’s Stone) was deciphered as allegory for personal transmutation, purification, and perfection, and also the quest for an elixir of life, which would confer youth, wisdom, longevity and maybe even immortality. These alchemists were influenced by the ancient Greek ‘Hermetica’ written by Hermes Trismegistus, and the newly translated writings of the ancient Greek philosopher Plato. Believing that all matter consisted of the five elements of Fire, Water, Air and Earth, and Aether ‘ alchemists also were imbued with cryptic symbolism and mysticism. The combination of the principles and practices related to mythology, magic, religion, and spirituality.
