In 1726, English woman Mary Toft from Southern England, became pregnant, being from a poor family she continued working in the fields during her pregnancy, whereupon she claimed the sighting of a rabbit caused her to give birth to Rabbits that September.

The claim became of the first British newspaper sensations, and led to investigations from the physicians of George Ist.

Influenced by this strange, and macabre tale from Georgian London, is presented this orginal illustration on a cameo plaque. See seperate listing. Also avaliable as a print on handmade paper in either 8.5”x11 or 5”x7”
